Benoit Paillé’s Constructed DollarStore Pop Art
French-Canadian photographer Benoit Paillé created a series of constructed images entitled DollarStore. These dollar store dinosaur toys and other objects have been transformed from the mundane to the extraordinary. Through manipulation, repetition, and documentation with the use of stunning photography techniques over brightly colored backgrounds; these simple dollar store sculptures take on new glamorous aesthetic qualities. With this unique interpretation of the object the artist questions the social implications of cheap labor in China and abroad. Paillé is a self-taught photographer whose images are both experimental and yet resonate a high level of sophistication. See more below!

The Multi-Layered Paintings of Benjamin Garcia
Venezuelan artist Benjamin Garcia creates delicate oil paintings, layering colors like veils to create transparent, overlapping images. For his “Flores” series, womens’ faces intersect with clusters of roses. The floral forms begin to appear almost flesh-like as they become subsumed into the skin tone hues. Take a look at some of Garcia’s paintings below.

Preview: Regan Rosburg’s “Maelstrom” at David B. Smith Gallery
Regan Rosburg‘s mixed-media artworks crystallize elements of nature, submerging what appear to be entire ecosystems in resin. Dominated by shades of off white, Rosburg’s works are filled with found objects such as wire, construction mesh and plastic bags
, surprising viewers with the variety of textures and 3D details despite the quiet, even minimalist color palette. These rough materials take on a delicate appearance in Rosburg’s ornate juxtapositions filled with baroque flourishes. Rosburg has a solo show coming up on June 21 titled “Maelstrom” at David B. Smith Gallery in Denver. Take a look at some of the work in the show below and see the exhibition June 21 through July 20.
