Japanese artist Riusuke Fukahori, best known for her three-dimensional goldfish paintings in layers of poured resin (and one of our top 10 cutting-edge artists of the 21st century) is a gifted painter whether it’s on a three- or two-dimensional platform. As part of his Goldfish Salvation exhibit at ICN gallery in London back in 2011, the artist performed his skilled process for creating a large-scale painting of a goldfish.
STRNG creates thought-provoking collages with simple juxtapositions. The clean works use detail sparingly — STRNG focuses on matching up forms from different aspects of nature, allowing the viewer to notice the beauty in their similarities. Red roses are paired with exposed muscles; a fetus in the womb blossoms from a flower stem. Rather than labeling it as grotesque, these works allow us to see the human anatomy as a part of nature as worthy of admiration as flowers and other aspects deemed desirable.
